WANDER Campaign

Increased rural tourism due to the pandemic has taken a toll on many outdoor destinations, and Siskiyou has been no exception. We've seen it ourselves and heard many reports from others - increased trash on trails, dogs running wild, campfires not fully extinguished. In order to mitigate strain on our pristine outdoor areas, our team worked with Leave No Trace and the Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance (SORA) on creating a pledge that travelers can take to teach them how to responsibly recreate when visiting Siskiyou.

We chose the acronym "W-A-N-D-E-R" for our pledge because it's easy to remember. We are asking visitors to read the pledge and sign for a chance to win a free two-day stay in Siskiyou. In addition to the web page, we will release a series of short videos highlighting each principle from the pledge to be shared via YouTube and social media to help spread the word far and wide.
