DS Staff Update

Happy 2022! We hope your year is off to a great start.

We're kicking off the year with an important update about our staff: starting this month, Niki Brown will be transitioning away from her work in tourism/Discover Siskiyou at the SEDC. We are so thankful for the time she has dedicated to this program, and even more thankful that she will remain with the team, albeit in a different capacity.

We're also excited to announce that Heather Dodds will elevate her position with Discover Siskiyou to take on the lead role of Marketing Director and is committed to the continued success and growth of the program. Please feel free to contact her at heather@discoversiskiyou.com

Finally, we are conducting final interviews this week for Heather's replacement as Digital Marketing Manager for Discover Siskiyou. We have some great local candidates to choose from, and we can't wait to share the news with everyone once the hiring process is complete.

Here's to change and growth in 2022!

Email Marketing + Blog

To kick off 2022, we rounded up some of our favorite spots in Siskiyou to rejuvenate our minds and move our bodies, and published them on the blog as well as in a marketing email sent out to our 2.5k+ email subscribers.

Discover Siskiyou Podcast
Season 2 Launch

On Thursday, we launched Season 2 of the Discover Siskiyou Podcast with an episode about Siskiyou Expeditions. New episodes will be released every other Thursday for the next three months. Listen to S2: Episode 1 and please rate, review, and subscribe on Spotify and Apple Podcasts so that more people can hear about the podcast!

Small Business Marketing Guide

Our team at the Siskiyou Small Business Development Center has created a Siskiyou Small Business Marketing Guide to help our local businesses promote their goods and services in Siskiyou and beyond.

News and Notes

In February, Heather and Tonya will travel to San Francisco to attend Visit California's Outlook Forum, the state's premier travel and tourism event for industry professionals. Tonya will appear as a panelist for a session about creating community alliances that work. We can't wait to report back with our insights after that event!

  • Have you checked out our redesigned industry site yet? Be sure to take a look, and use the site to download free photo/video assets as well as submit events to our calendar.

  • Thank you to everyone who submitted a Local Initiatives funding application. Our management committee will review the applications and we will be in touch next month after our next management committee meeting for next steps.
