Event marketing award applications to go live tuesday, jan. 2

The Discover Siskiyou Event Marketing Award Program is a way for our local businesses, tourism groups, and collectives to leverage Discover Siskiyou dollars to increase tourism to individual communities. Ten awards in the amount of $3,000 will be awarded to local events from Jan. 2,-June 30, 2024 via a competitive online application process. The intent of this program is to use events to drive tourism to the region and increase overnight stays in lodging properties. Applications will be posted at the link below on Tuesday, Jan. 2 and MUST be submitted electronically via the online form. Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received, and once 10 applications are approved, the funding will close and any pending applications will not be reviewed.

If you have questions about the application process, email heather@discoversiskiyou.com

Yreka Night of Lights

In the spring of 2023, the City of Yreka approached Discover Siskiyou about the city investing in our professional staff to plan and advertise the City's two largest annual events - Night of Lights and Gold Rush Days. In accordance with the goals of the Siskiyou Economic Development Council and Discover Siskiyou, the mission of these events are to generate downtown business revenue and sales tax for Yreka, increase overnight stays in Yreka lodging properties, and foster identity and community pride. Despite unfavorable weather conditions for this year's Night of Lights event, we are happy to report that our team created a memorable and well attended evening on Miner Street in Yreka.

According to Placer AI, a location analytics tool our team uses regularly, there were a total of 3,700 unique visits to the Yreka Downtown Historic District on December 2, 2023 for the Night of Lights event. Of those recorded visits, 89.4% reside in Siskiyou, and 10.6% outside the county with an estimated Economic Impact of $116,100.Despite the rain, visitors stayed on average over 70 minutes during the event. What a pleasure to partner with the City of Yreka on this annual event!

Siskiyou Country Radio Ads

Starting this month, we began running ads on Siskiyou's newest digital radio station, Siskiyou Country. Listeners throughout California (and the US) are tuning in for country music and shows including the Old Farmers Almanac Sh0w, the Kevin Sponsler Show, Red Steagall's Cowboy Corner, and more. Advertising on local stations allow us to reach residents and in-market visitors to promote events and season-appropriate activities in Siskiyou, with the goal of driving traffic to our site.

Tune in on Google Play or ask Alexa to play Siskiyou Country Radio!
