yreka night of lights event recap
For the the third year, the City of Yreka and Discover Siskiyou partnered to host Night of Lights, the annual holiday tree lighting event in Yreka’s historic downtown district for December. Elements included an artisan craft vendor fair, mobile food and beverage service, an engineered light and entertainment show, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, magician, balloon artist, face painting, crowd engagement with cash and prizes, print-making activity, multiple photo opportunities, holiday decorations, market lighting and much more.
According to Placer AI, our location analytics tool, there were a total of 3,000 unique visits to the Yreka Downtown Historic District during the event. Placer AI estimates the economic impact of the event to be approximately $108,000 (sales tax revenue, local shopping, rooms booked, etc). The Discover Siskiyou team secured $9,545 in vendor fees and sponsorships for this event. Event sponsors included Suburban Propane; Mechanics Bank; Rain Rock Casino, Resort, and Hotel; Cal-Ore; Pfeiffer Vacuum+Fab Solutions; AgWest Farm Credit; Fairchild Medical Center; JoAnne Lang, Realtor®; Pacific Power, Yreka Transfer, and the Yreka Elks Lodge.

Well-planned community events help drive tourism spend and overnight stays in Siskiyou. It also promotes the goals of the Siskiyou Economic Council by supporting the local economy and fostering business growth.
To that end, our team has published an event planning guide to assist community event planners in Siskiyou and increase visitation to the area.
