The Siskiyou Pledge: WANDER

Increased rural tourism due to the pandemic has taken a toll on many outdoor destinations, and Siskiyou has been no exception. We've seen it ourselves and heard many reports from others - increased trash on trails, dogs running wild, campfires not fully extinguished. In order to mitigate strain on our pristine outdoor areas, our team worked with Leave No Trace and the Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance (SORA) on creating a pledge that travelers can take to teach them how to responsibly recreate when visiting Siskiyou.

We chose the acronym "WANDER" for our pledge because it's easy to remember. We are asking visitors to read the pledge and sign for a chance to win a free two-day stay in Siskiyou. In addition to the web page, we will release a series of short videos highlighting each principle from the pledge to be shared via YouTube and social media to help spread the word far and wide.

Medford Airport Ads

We are excited to announce that we have two large display ads being installed at the Medford Airport next week! The waterfall image will go on the wall in the waiting area near one of the gates – travelers waiting for their flights can scan the QR code with their cell phones to visit to our homepage. The lake image will be affixed to the wall right behind the front doors of the airport – we are so excited to have snagged such a highly visible location. We hope you love them as much as we do!

Apply Now for Event Marketing Awards

From July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023, Discover Siskiyou will fund 20 event marketing awards in the amount of $3,000 to local entities hosting events in Siskiyou this fiscal year. These awards may be used to book talent (musicians, guest speakers, workshop leaders, etc.) as well as marketing and advertising expenses including but not limited to posters and mailers, social media ads and influencers, display ads, and media buys. Awards may not be used for “hard” costs such as facility rentals, labor, insurance, or general operating expenses.

Applications and an informational sheet are posted online at https://www.industry.discoversiskiyou.com/event-marketing-program. There will be two application windows per year: July 1 – Dec. 31, and Jan. 1 – June 30, with up to 10 awards granted per window. Applications will be reviewed and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, provided the application is complete and meets all criteria in the provided informational document. Applications must be submitted via the online form.

We have already started receiving applications, so make sure you get them in ASAP!
